John Kidd is the Executive Vice President for Operations for Place Enterprises. He is responsible for the day to day operations of Place Enterprises and the development of military markets.

John served in the United States Army from 1976-2006, retiring in the grade of Colonel. His last assignment was as the Commander of United States Army Garrison, Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield, with responsibility for all infrastructure, maintenance, housing and operations to support the 289,000 acre installation’s population of 38,000. Under Colonel Kidd’s leadership, Ft. Stewart was selected as the Army’s best installation for all three years of his command.

Colonel Kidd’s early career included service as a commander and operations officer in various Infantry and Special Operations Forces units, conducting operations in Southeast Asia as well as Central and South America, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Korea, Bosnia and Haiti. He also served as a joint staff officer in the Operations Division, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), Mons, Belgium.

From 1995 to 1997, Colonel Kidd served as a strategic assessment officer in the J5 of the United States Special Operations Command, MacDill AFB, Florida. Colonel Kidd commanded the 6th Psychological Operations Battalion (Airborne) from 1997-99, conducting operations in 37 countries in Europe and Africa, to include extensive operations in Bosnia, Herzegovina. During OPERATION ALLIED FORCE, he commanded the Joint Psychological Operations Task Force for both the Allied Bombing Campaign and the NATO occupation of Kosovo.

Following command, Colonel Kidd was the Chief of the Wargaming, Simulation and Analysis Division, J8, United States Special Operations Command. Following attendance at the National Defense University, Colonel Kidd served concurrently as the Chairman of the Counter-Propaganda Threat Panel, National Security Council and Deputy Chief of the Psychological Operations Division, Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Pentagon, Washington, DC

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Colonel Kidd is a graduate of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, the United States Army Command and General Staff College, the Psychological Operations Officer Course, the Defense Language Institute, the African Regional Studies Course and the NATO Staff Officer’s course. He hold a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Alabama, a Master’s in Public Administration Degree from Troy State University and a Masters in National Security Studies from the National Defense University.

His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards), Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards), the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, the Ranger Tab and the NATO Medal.

Colonel Kidd is married to the former Janet L. Moore of Andalusia, Alabama. They have a daughter, Amanda and a son, Daniel.
